Chic Older, Executive Vice President
Chic is the Executive Vice President of the Arizona
Medical Association. Prior to becoming ArMA's top executive
in 1989, Chic served as ArMA's Director of Government
Affairs for five years. From 1974 to 1984, he worked
for the Arizona Hospital Association, now known as the
Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association. Chic is
involved in community and professional organizations
such as the Foundation for Senior Living, the American
Association of Medical Society Executives and the American
Society for Association Executives. Chic has a master's
degree in health care administration from George Washington
University in Washington, D.C.

David Landrith,
Vice President of Policy & Political Affairs
David currently serves as Vice President of Policy
and Political Affairs for the Arizona Medical Association.
He became involved in health care administration in 1983
when he assumed the position of associate executive director
of the Arizona Board of Medical Examiners, now known as the Arizona Medical Board, a position
he held for five years before joining ArMA. Prior
to that, he served six years as executive director of
the Southeastern Arizona Government Organization and completed
an earlier six years with the League of Arizona Cities
and Towns. David holds a master's degree in public administration
from Harvard University and completed his undergraduate
studies in political science at Arizona State University.

Carol Wagner, Associate Vice President of Operations
Carol currently serves the Arizona Medical Association as the Associate Vice President of Operations. Since joining ArMA in 1991, Carol has administered the Doctor of the Day program at the state legislature and has assisted in lobbying activities. She is responsible for ArMA's Principal and Lobbyist reports. She staffs the Annual meeting of the ArMA House of Delegates and the ArMA AMA Delegation as well as the ArMA Executive Committee and Board of Directors, the Committee on Legislative & Governmental Affairs and the Committee on Bioethics. Carol staffs the ArMPAC Board and is responsible for solicitation of contributions and filing federal and state PAC reports. Carol supervises the ArMA building including maintenance and repair, meeting room scheduling and the ordering of materials and supplies.

Patrice Hand,
Associate Vice President of Specialty Society Services
Patrice joined ArMA in 1993, first as the Membership Coordinator,
then as the Specialty Societies Coordinator. Patrice handles 11 specialty
societies. She is responsible for the administrative work,
communications, meetings and finances of the societies.
Prior to working for ArMA, Patrice
spent over seven years with American Paging, a communications
company, first as a sales representative, then as sales
manager.

Cathy Schmit,
Associate Vice President of Finance
Cathy joined the association in 1982 to convert ArMA's
membership records, kept manually until that time,
to an automated system. Two years later she was promoted
and currently serves as the Associate Vice Presient of Finance. In this
capacity, she is responsible for all tax and in-house
accounting for ArMA, ArMA's
Foundation and 12 Specialty Societies. Cathy is also responsible
for oversight of the Annual Audit & Budget, Insurance
Negotiations, Investment Management, Personnel Requirements
and Employee Benefit Programs. Cathy provides staff support
to the Committee on Finance, ArMA's Retirement Plan Advisory
Committee and the Mallory Trust Student Loan Program.

Sharla Hooper, Associate Vice President for Communications and Accreditation
Sharla joined ArMA in 2007, serving first as the Communications Assistant and was then promoted to Director of Communications the following year. Sharla produces the weekly ArMA newsletter, “Medicine This Week,” serves as managing editor for ArMA’s journal, AzMedicine, oversees ArMA website content, and works with other ArMA departments to produce publications and flyers appropriate to their needs. She handles media inquiries, coordinates media and physician interviews, and reviews daily newspaper reporting to track issues of interest to ArMA’s physicians. Sharla staffs the Maternal and Child Health Care Committee and the Public Health Committee. In 2011, Sharla's role expanded to managing ArMA's intrastate accreditation program. As the Associate VP of Accreditation she staffs the ArMA Committee on Accreditation and Medical Education and offers support to the network of local continuing medical education sponsors. Sharla earned a Master of Arts in English at James Madison University in Virginia.
